After their trip to California and a couple more wins under their belt, the Coyote women finally cracked the top 25. When Tuesday’s poll came out, the women were ranked 22nd in the nation. Last week, the women missed the top 25 by 11 votes. The Coyotes trip to California must have swayed the voters, [...]

Did the NCC make the right call?
The North Central Conference announced their players of the week honors for men’s basketball and senior forward Eric Hall, much to my surprise, wasn’t named player of the week.
Here is the official release from the NCC:
Players of the Week - Michael Jenkins & Atila Santos
Michael Jenkins of Nebraska-Omaha and Atila Santos of Minnesota State [...]

This just in: Tyler Cain has blocked 2 more shots
If I were a coach prepairing to face the Coyote Men’s Basketball team, here is the offense I’d run:
5 guards, all 3 feet outside of the 3-point line. No movement anywhere toward the paint. Ever. Period.
The scary thing is, Cain would probably still block a couple shots. He really is that good of a defender. [...]

USD earns 5 NCC FB 1st teamers
In an announcement earlier this week, the USD Coyotes football team earned five players on the All North Central Conference first team.
Senior running back Amos Allen, senior wide receiver Brooks Little, senior center Christian Morton and senior left tackle Tim Schneider were all named All-NCC first team offensive selections. Senior outside linebacker Justiss Scales [...]

2007 Northwest Region bracket
With the USD Coyotes football team not making the playoffs, the three North Central Conference schools who defeated Coyotes all made the playoffs in three of the top four seeds from the Northwest Region.
The 2007 and final North Central Conference champion Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks (10-0, 8-0), who finished their first undefeated season since 1954, is [...]

And he’s not a Harlon Hill candidate
In his final game as a USD Coyote, Amos Allen had his best performance.
All the senior from Miami, Fla., did was rush for 306 yards and two touchdowns and break two school records in USD’s 31-27 loss.
Allen set the single game record for rushing yards, which was previously held by Stefan Logan who [...]

Memories of the NCC
Growing up in Sioux Falls, I was surrounded by the North Central Conference. Literally.
Geographically, I was planted right in the middle. There were teams in Brookings, Sioux Falls, Vermillion, Omaha (Neb), Fargo (ND), Grand Forks (ND), Mankato (Minn) and St. Cloud (Minn). Not to mention a school way out in Greeley, Colo.
So, for me, the [...]

Well, I guess that’s why they’re ranked #1 in the region…
Well, as much as I didn’t want to see it, it was a loss in Omaha.
Not just any loss, either. It was a 41-14 crushing by UNO.
I guess there are a few things that stand out to me in this game: 1) It was a tale of two halves; 2) rushing, not turnovers were the [...]

Hey NCC, just pick ONE
Apparently, the North Central Conference office prefers selecting co-offensive players of the week, rather than growing a pair and choosing one honoree.
After rushing for 260 yards and three touchdowns, USD running back Amos Allen was named the NCC Co-Offensive Player of the Week — sharing the award with Nebraska-Omaha QB Zach Miller.
Don’t get me wrong, [...]

Live from Grand Forks, N.D.
It should be a good one today inside the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center between the No. 1 North Dakota women and the No. 10 USD Coyotes women. A key match up to watch today will be how the Coyotes defend and what they do offensively against UND’s massive post players. Ashley Langen, the 6-foot-2 senior center, [...]
