Erickson wins another award

Emma Erickson has won another award after her outstanding freshman year at USD. She is one of five recipients in the nation to earn the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Women’s 2008 Division II Indoor and Outdoor Trackand Field Scholar Athlete of the Year award.

Erickson earned the award with her work as a student and by winning the indoor and outdoor titles in the 800-meter run.

Other Coyotes who made the USTFCCCA all-academic team were Rosalie Brueske, Katie Cerling, Danielle Dornbusch, Allison Duba, Jenessa Filler, Steph Gebhart, Amber Hegge, Jasmine Mosley, Marissa O’Bryan and Shaneka Parkes.

The USD women’s track team continues to ear awards well after the season. Erickson should only continue to pile up more awards in the future. It will be interesting to see the track team compete for a conference championship in 2008-09 in the Great West Conference and how well Erickson will do in Division-I.
