Coyotes resilient after early deficit

This one looks like it’s going to be a physical matchup.

DSU leading scorer Lakira Boyd made two quick shots down low and the Lady Statesmen got off to an early 6-0 lead.

Shannon Daly was the first to score for the Yotes on two free throws and Jasmine Mosley came off the bench and scored a layup to bring the Coyotes within two.

DSU gained an 11-4 lead on a three and appeared to have all the momentum.

Amber Hegge was fouled on a layup attempt to stop the Lady Statesmen’s run. She was good on both free throws, and after a pair of stops and USD layups, the Coyotes cut the lead to 11-10.

After a nice steal and layup by DSU’s Jennifer Rushing, the Coyotes answered back with 3-pointers from Ashley Robinette and Maggie Youngberg to gain a 16-13 lead.

The Coyote bench has 11 of the team’s 16 points so far.
