OK, allow me to be the first person from The Volante to say this: What happened last night?
To be fair, I wasn’t at the game, but at this point does it matter? It was brutal, regardless of how far from Vermillion you were.
I’m not going to say anything anyone else isn’t thinking right now, but it is frustrating, no doubt.
This is a Coyote team that was heavily favored to win the North Central Conference. Hell, some people (cough, cough) even had USD making a deep run in the national tournament.
Yet, here we are, with the Coyotes on the bubble for even a regional berth.
Personally, I think USD will get in at the No. 8 seed. If that’s the case, they’d face Winona State in Winona, Minn. It will be the third straight year in which USD plays its regional game in Winona.
There’s nothing more I can say right now. We’ll see Sunday if the Coyotes get in. If they do, they’ll still have a chance to make some noise. And if they don’t, none of us should be wondering why.
Right now, it’s a waiting game for the Coyote men. And in the meantime, the rest of us can recover from last night’s shocker.
