Hoffner named MSU-Mankato finalist

USD offensive coordinator Todd Hoffner has been named one of four finalists for the vacant head coaching position at MSU-Mankato, the university announced Tuesday.

Remember, the Coyotes have already made significant changes to their football coaching staff this off-season. Back on Jan. 3, USD promoted Jarod Dodson to defensive coordinator, promoted Wes Beschorner to quarterbacks coach, and hired Todd Strop as special teams coordinator/linebackers coach.

And in addition, back in early December, Jim Glogowski left his job as USD’s defensive coordinator to become head coach at Simpson College (Iowa).

But back to the MSU-Mankato finalists:

1. Dan McLaughlin, head coach, Wayne State College (Neb.)

2. Todd Hoffner, offensive coordinator, University of South Dakota

3. Jim Williams, offensive coordinator, Illinois State University

4. Shannon Currier, head coach, Truman State University

(Interestingly, Currier was one of the three finalists for the USD position back in 2003. At the time, Currier was the head man at Concordia-St. Paul).

Hoffner will interview in Mankato, Minn. this Friday (Jan. 18) at 3 p.m.

Keep an eye on this story.
