The USD Coyotes swept the North Central Conference Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office today.
Tyler Cain of the No. 3 men’s basketball team won the NCC men’s honor for the second time this season. Cain, a sophomore forward, averaged 14.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game as USD moved to 10-0 with wins over Lincoln (Mo.) and Truman State.
He shot 68.4 percent (13-19) from the field in the two games.
And on the women’s side, Jenna Hoffman, a senior guard, averaged 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game in victories over Southwest Minnesota State and Mount Mercy.
Hoffman hit 11-of-16 field goals (68.8 percent) and all eight of her free throw attempts.
And, of course, Hoffman shared the weekly honor with Heather Johnson of MSU-Mankato, which won three games this past week.
