Q&A with Stefan Logan

As you can read on volanteonline.com, former USD standout Stefan Logan signed an NFL contract with the Miami Dolphins.

After four days of trying, I was finally able to get a hold of Logan. Here’s a brief Q & A between The Volante and Logan.

Volante: How did the contact with the Dolphins come about?

Logan: Well, before the (NFL) Draft in April, I had already talked with them. I even had a workout for them. They said I had good speed and quickness. But when they drafted Ted Ginn Jr. I knew I probably wouldn’t get taken. I talked to them Monday and they said they wanted to bring me down. I called my agent, who was working on plans for me to fly down there. I hopped on a plane and by Tuesday, I was at practice. It happened so quick.

Volante: What was your first reaction?

Logan: I was excited, man (laughs). But I didn’t want to get too excited. The whole situation with the Giants this spring brought me down; got me pretty depressed. So I didn’t want to get my hopes up until it was official.

Volante: Other then your agent, who was the first person you told?

Logan: Once I got off the phone with the team, I ran over to the (USD) coaches office. The first person I told was Joe Beschorner. He couldn’t believe me; he was like ‘is this for real?’ But all the coaches were pretty excited and pumped up. I think I brightened up their day. I feel like I have their support.

Volante: How’s life in the NFL so far?

Logan: So far, it’s been hard (laughs). It’s a little different for me. I was used to being the star of the team at USD. Now I’m taking a different role. Have to work my way up again. You just have to catch the coaches’ eye and take advantage of what they’ve given you.

Volante: How have the players gotten along with you?

Logan: They’ve all been real good to me. I’ve been taking with Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor. I’m the smallest one out there (laughs), but they’re not cocky or anything. They’ve been cracking jokes and things have been real cool.
